The Fear Factor - Not What We Need

Fear is one of the most damaging emotions we can experience. Sadly enough, most of the population's every day experience is bombarded with fear based news and the sensationalism that fuels it. Some of you may have figured out a way to avoid the negativity, turning your attention to what is right, and that is exactly the energy we need to flourish in order for our world to move in a positive direction of awareness. I am not preaching a causal effort here; sometimes the causal people are the biggest fear mongers around. The simple truth is that if we can start appreciating all the little stuff, every small thing that happens in our own personal life, the outcome is one happier human being.

The sales for anti-anxiety and anti-depressant drugs are at an all time high and climbing. This is how our health care system tells us to deal with fear and worry. And, sadly enough, these drugs may have an initial impact on the individual's stress level, but eventually, if the perceived problems that stirred up those fears are not resolved, the fears can go deeper. This may lead to more mental disability, emotionally and spiritually.

The long-term resolution is to challenge your beliefs and correct those to right thinking. This can take the form of therapy, spiritual work, meditation and other anti stress activities. Keep a gratitude journal where you list all the wonderful things that you experience every day like the child that smiles at you or the seasonal smells in the air.

Try experiencing an attitude of gratitude and look for what is right in your world instead of dwelling on what is wrong. You may be surprised at the difference in how you feel when you put your day to rest.
